Elephants are one of nature's most precious gifts. Although there are many large species of elephants today, the most beautiful looking elephants belong to the Asian continent. Of these, Sri Lanka owns the most beautiful elephants. Currently there are about 103 tame elephants in Sri Lanka.

The Dalada Perahera can be described as a beautiful cultural art festival that uses all the tame elephants present. Among the elephants here, the Nedungagamuwa Raja Elephant holds a very special place. Because this elephant king is the elephant king who carries the Tooth Relic.

The present owner of Nedungamuwa Raja is Dr. Harsha Dharmavijaya. He is currently 68 years old and was born in the Indian state of Mysore. This baby elephant, which was received from a Maharaja of India as a gift to the Neelammahara Thero, has not arrived in a vehicle since he was a child. Nedungamuwe Raja is currently the largest and tallest elephant in Asia. The elephant is currently being cared for by Wilson Kodithuwakku. Make him famouse in the name of Kalu Mama. This Nedungamuwa elephant which is still in good health has been named as a national treasure of Sri Lanka. It is our responsibility to protect Nedungagamuwa Raja who is the pride of Sri Lanka.
